Specimen Technician - 3rd Shift
Job Title: Specimen Technician - 3rd Shift
Job Location: Greensboro, NC
Job Duration: 4 Months of contract
Shift: Monday- Friday 10 pm - 3 am - EST (part time)
Pay range: $19.78/hr. on W2
Job Description:
The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) is responsible for performing general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department. This role requires a strong data entry background and the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform specimen processing tasks including A-station, presort, specimen pickup and delivery, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting
- Ensure all tasks are completed with accuracy, confidence, and within required timeframes
- Maintain knowledge of specimen types related to tests ordered by clients
- Understand and comply with regulatory requirements related to test ordering, which may change frequently
- Meet departmental productivity and quality standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety, compliance, and biohazard handling procedures
- Communicate effectively with team members and other staff levels
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to changing workloads and priorities
Work Environment & Requirements:
- Production-based environment with strict quality and turnaround expectations
- Ability to perform approximately 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour
- Work in a biohazard environment while adhering to safety protocols
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Availability for night shifts, weekends, holidays, on-call duties, and overtime as needed
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Preferred Knowledge & Experience:
- Basic computer skills required
- Knowledge of laboratory testing or specimen processing preferred
- Medical background or familiarity with clinical laboratory terminology preferred
- Previous laboratory or hospital experience is a plus
- Experience in a production environment preferred
