Phlebotomist II
Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Location: Las Cruces, NM
Duration: 3+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Position Overview:
The Phlebotomist II represents the face of our organization to patients, whether they visit as part of routine health care or for critical diagnostic insights. This role involves drawing high-quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while adhering to established protocols. The Phlebotomist II ensures patient comfort, builds trust, and maintains confidentiality throughout the process. Successful candidates may work in a physician’s office, patient service center, or other designated locations as business needs dictate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary specimen collection with accuracy and professionalism.
- Verify patient identity and ensure proper labeling of specimens in the patient’s presence.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with company standards.
- Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures.
- Uphold safety and infection control guidelines to maintain a professional environment.
- Deliver superior customer service and foster a positive patient experience.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, and the public.
- Travel and provide coverage at multiple locations as needed, sometimes with minimal notice.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to produce quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexible availability for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Commitment to company policies, dress code, and health & safety standards.
Education & Certifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (mandatory in CA, NV, WA).
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- At least 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail or service environment preferred.
- Keyboard/data entry experience required.
