Phlebotomist I
Location: Ocala, FL, 34471
Duration: 4 Months
Shift: Mon-Fri 12 PM - 5 PM, Rotational Saturdays
Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients and is responsible for performing accurate and safe blood specimen collection for clinical and forensic testing. This role requires strong phlebotomy skills, excellent patient interaction, strict adherence to safety and confidentiality standards, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities

Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws on pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients

Collect, label, process, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing according to established protocols

Explain procedures clearly to patients and create a calm, professional, and trustworthy environment

Perform clinical and forensic specimen collection following standard operating procedures

Maintain accurate records, documentation, and patient information in compliance with confidentiality regulations

Demonstrate leadership behaviors and commitment to process excellence

Ensure a safe, clean, and professional work environment at all times

Complete daily tasks accurately and on schedule under the direction of the area supervisor

Promote a positive company image to patients, clients, employees, and the general public
Required Skills & Competencies

Strong phlebotomy and specimen handling skills

Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation

Proficiency with keyboarding and electronic data systems
Work Schedule & Availability

Must be flexible and available to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts as needed

Must be punctual, reliable, and able to complete the full scheduled shift

Excessive absenteeism or tardiness may result in termination
Education Requirements
-
High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
-
Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (Preferred)
-
Phlebotomy Certification (Preferred; Required in CA, NV, and WA)
Experience Requirements
-
Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience (Required)
-
1+ year of phlebotomy experience (Preferred)
-
Customer service experience in retail or service environments (Preferred)
-
Prior keyboarding and data entry experience (Required)
