Shift: Central Monday- Friday 6:30-4:30. Saturday 7a-11a
Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the primary point of contact for patients and represents the organization in a professional, compassionate manner. This role is responsible for performing high-quality blood specimen collection and processing for clinical and forensic testing while following established procedures, safety standards, and confidentiality requirements. The PSR I ensures a positive patient experience by explaining procedures clearly and performing venipuncture accurately and safely.
Key Responsibilities

Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen processing activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor

Collect blood specimens using clinical and forensic techniques in compliance with established protocols

Prepare, label, and process specimens for laboratory testing

Maintain accurate records, documentation, and data entry

Ensure patient safety, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA regulations

Create a professional, safe, and welcoming environment for patients

Communicate procedures clearly to patients to build trust and confidence

Demonstrate leadership behaviors and a commitment to process excellence

Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, staff, and the public
Required Skills and Abilities

Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric patients

Excellent customer service and communication skills

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry
Schedule & Availability

Must be flexible and available based on staffing needs

Includes weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, overtime, and variable schedules

Must arrive on time and remain for the full scheduled shift
Education Requirements
-
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
-
Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (preferred)
-
Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in CA, NV, and WA)
Experience Requirements
-
Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience (required)
-
One or more years of phlebotomy experience (preferred)
-
Customer service experience in a retail or service environment (preferred)
-
Prior data entry experience (required)
