Surgical Technologist

Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Schedule:

• Full-Time – 40 hours/week

• Shift options: 4x10s (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM) or 5x8s

• Days per Week: 5

Hourly Pay Rate: $45/hour
Department: Operating Room - Main

The Surgical Technologist plays a key role in supporting surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile environment, ensuring instruments are ready and functional, and assisting surgeons during procedures. This position requires strong technical knowledge, a high level of attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

• Prepare OR tables and ensure all instruments/supplies are ready before surgery

• Scrub in and assist surgeons directly during surgical procedures

• Handle instruments, suction, retraction, suturing, irrigation, and dressing under surgeon/RN supervision

• Maintain a sterile field and follow aseptic technique

• Assist with pre- and post-operative patient care (site cleansing, dressing, transferring patient)

• Clean and disassemble instruments post-op, prepare for sterilization

• Maintain equipment, update surgical preference lists, and ensure proper functioning of surgical tools

• Act as a patient advocate, ensuring privacy, dignity, and safety at all times

• Minimum 2 years of surgical tech experience

• Experience with Client and Spine surgeries

• Sound clinical judgment and ability to remain composed in high-stress situations

• Skilled in handling surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile techniques

• Ability to provide culturally sensitive and age-appropriate care

• Strong communication and confidentiality practices

• Open to ongoing professional development and training

• Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Education Program
    OR

  • 3 years of surgical tech experience within the past 5 years

• Required:

  • BLS Certification (American Heart Association)

• Preferred (not required):

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – NBSTSA

  • Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C) – NCCT

• Not specified, but preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Certified Surgical Tech credentials

  • Broader surgical experience beyond Client/Spine
