Laboratory Technician II
Job Title: Laboratory Technician II
Location: Onsite – Marlborough, MA
Contract Duration: 6-Month W2 Contract (High potential for extension based on performance)
Pay Range: $25 - $28/Hour on W2 Contract
Job Purpose
The R&D Technician II will work both independently and collaboratively within a small team (1–3 technicians) to support Urology R&D projects. This role is instrumental in assisting engineers and scientists in the development, testing, and analysis of new products, materials, processes, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and construct prototypes or components based on conceptual inputs.
- Create and maintain documentation using basic mechanical drawings and CAD software.
- Generate and contribute innovative ideas backed by sound engineering rationale.
- Organize, coordinate, and execute the building and testing of prototypes and products as per engineering guidelines.
- Support the definition of specifications and quality standards alongside project teams.
- Source components and services through internal channels and approved vendors to support engineering efforts.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource and support system to fellow technicians and team members.
- Provide clear and regular updates on project status to engineering and project teams.
Quality Systems Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with all quality regulations and standards. Foster a culture of quality and integrate best practices into all project phases.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
- Minimum 3 years of recent experience in a related R&D or laboratory environment.
- Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.
- Hands-on experience with electrical systems and mechanical/electromechanical prototyping.
- Familiarity with laser testing procedures and basic lab instrumentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with LabVIEW.
- Proficiency in using standard laboratory testing equipment.
- Prior experience in the medical device industry.
- Knowledge of laser consoles and optical fibers.
