Title: Electrical Technician I
Location: Corning, NY 14831 (Onsite Position)
Contract: 1+ Year (Possible of extension)
Shift: 7 AM - 4 PM EST (Monday - Friday)
Pay Range: $18 - $20.53/Hour on W2
Job Description:
Working Hours: Monday - Friday; 7am - 4pm (Flexible), Weekly On-Call Rotation shared with present staff of individuals.
Able to support On-Call duties when called upon Some off-hours work required such as Saturday mornings.
Day To Day Responsibilities:
-Technician support for the Sullivan Park Facility Alarm Systems.
-The position will provide testing and maintenance support for the Sullivan Park Life Safety Network which includes fire alarm, hazardous gas detection and facility critical alarm points. Testing includes challenging smoke detectors, heat detectors, activating pull boxes, challenging gas sensors, and confirming appropriate engineering controls. Maintenance activities include calibration/verification/exchange of various types of hazardous gas monitoring equipment throughout Sullivan Park laboratories. The role includes physical activities including walking throughout Sullivan Park and use of testing equipment. Coordination with Security, Lab Personnel and Emergency Services is a must. Technician must disable alarm points/panels and detection points for Hot Work Permits. Technician is responsible for documenting all points which are tested and/or calibrated.
-Position is a hands-on with significant field work and Trades/Customer interface.
-System level maintenance & troubleshooting and Trades support with corrective action follow-through are required.
Preferable Knowledge Requirements:
-Familiar with electrical & pneumatic control systems
-General background in emergency response protocols
-Building controls interface background
Additional Skills:
-Ability to assess system gaps and develop/implement plans for closure
-Capable of reading electrical schematics and panel layouts
-Basic background in Microsoft Office Suite
--Able to use monitoring equipment to assess equipment/systems operation
Qualifications:
Required Skills:
- Two Year degree or equivalent knowledge in electrical/electronics/controls, or relevant a recent graduate would be ideal
- Understanding of multi-meter use and troubleshooting circuits
Desired Skills:
- Basic understanding in control systems engineering, installation and integration
- Basic understanding of fire alarm systems, gas detectors, laboratory safety requirements
- Microsoft Office
-Background in fire protection systems
-Background in Hazardous Gas Monitoring Systems
-Hands-on system expert with significant field work
-Familiar with NY or IBC/IFC Codes and NFPA and the ability to understand and interpret codes
-Flexible to occasional off-shift work hours
Soft Skills:
-Ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers and team members (Engineers, Trades, Process Technicians)
-Ability to obtain and analyze data to confirm system operation and assist in system level troubleshooting
-Ability to perform work independently
-Background in working with chemicals (system distribution/material interaction)
-Overall safety oriented individual
