Title: EHS Coordinator III/Site-Specific Safety Manager.
Location: Apex NC
Contract: Up to 36 months with possible extension dependent on project progress.
Hours of the Shift: 8-5 but could require occasional early/late work or weekends
Position Summary:
Client Building is seeking an experienced and dedicated Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee and enforce safety protocols for a large, multi-year project. The SSHO will ensure full compliance with federal (OSHA), state (NC OSHA), and local safety regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and all applicable safety policies.
Conduct daily safety inspections and audits of work areas, equipment, and operational practices.
Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures to maintain compliance with safety standards.
Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for all site personnel.
Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations; develop and document corrective and preventive action plans.
Maintain complete and accurate safety documentation, including logs, permits, inspection reports, and training records.
Coordinate with subcontractors to verify their safety programs and training meet project-specific requirements.
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for all safety-related matters.
Collaborate with project teams to identify hazards and develop proactive risk mitigation strategies.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Environmental Health & Safety or a related field, or a minimum of five (5) years of EHS experience in construction safety, preferably on large-scale commercial projects required.
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification required.
Must possessor be willing and able to obtain within 6 monthsa CHST, ASP, or CSP certification.
Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Proven ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
Preferred Skills:
Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency preferred.
