Job Title: CAD Technician II
Location: Concord, NC 28026 - Hybrid (Significant on-site presence required)
Duration: 12 Months+ (Possible Extension)
Location: Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Summary:
As a member of the Downstream Platforms & Technology department, you will lead drafting activities for development programs, creating, documenting, and managing electronic drawing files (Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD) for custom-designed process equipment at worldwide Client Optical Fiber and Cable manufacturing sites. You will take ownership of preliminary mechanical drawing packages from Engineering/Development and integrate them across multiple equipment configurations, maintaining equipment standardization and company drafting standards.
Deliverables include detail, sheet metal, weldment, and assembly drawings, as well as mounting systems and layouts for mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components. On-site presence is required to document existing system configurations on the production floor.

Key Responsibilities:
- Create 2D drawings from existing 3D models.
- Create 3D models of new components.
- Collect data from engineering teams and incorporate information into appropriate drawings.
- Collect measurements and information from the production floor to incorporate into drawings.
- Submit drawing packages for release through the Engineering Change Request (ECR) process.
- Ensure all drawing packages comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Design mounting systems and layouts for mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components, ensuring proper serviceability and integration within the overall system.
Work Environment:
- Employment through a third-party contractor.
- Hybrid schedule available, but significant time on-site is required initially.
- Contracts are 1 year in length, with potential extensions based on performance and workload.
Required Education:
- A.A.S. Mechanical Engineering Technology degree, A.O.S. Drafting/CAD degree, or Drafting Certificate/Certification.
- Candidates without degrees must demonstrate proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting.
Required Experience & Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years professional experience in mechanical drafting.
- Working knowledge of ASME/ANSI drafting standards.
- General Windows-based computer skills.
- Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault software.
- Ability to adapt to company standards and guidelines.
- Proficient in using basic measurement tools.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to safely operate and perform tasks within a production environment.
