Job Title: Electric Distribution Operator I
Job Location: Richmond, VA, (Onsite)
Job Duration: 12+ Months(Possibility of extension)
 
Job Description:

• This role is responsible for service restoration and distribution switching activities using extensive knowledge of electrical distribution systems including technical knowledge of operations and switching practices.
• Ensures all reporting is completed to keep management informed of system conditions, circuit, outages, key and critical customer interruptions, and extended outages.
• Communicates with on-call/duty field and office personnel on status of distribution outages and service restoration efforts.
• Will complete the Switching Supervisor Training Program to become ROC switching certified within 12 months.
• Shift-oriented workforce.

 
The knowledge, skills, abilities, and experiences that are required for entry into this job include:

• Preferred experience with and in combination of, dispatching, emergency services, military experience, complex database management, and customer service.
• Understanding of the Electric Distribution System

 
Skill: Interpersonal; strong written and verbal communications; analytical; personal and mainframe computer applications.
 
Abilities: Independent and sound problem resolution; address multiple tasks simultaneously; handle constantly changing and emerging priorities; Leadership abilities
 
To meet optional needs, selected candidates must be available and committed to working a flexible 24/7 shift schedule as well as overtime and storm callout as business needs require.

• multi-tasking (handling changing priorities constantly)
• computer-based skills (all Windows applications, typing, etc.)
• data analysis (review multiple information sources to determine appropriate action)

• GIS, Electrical background, AutoCAD, Microsoft office

What education and certifications/licensures are required?

• High School Graduate / GED
• OSHA 30 preferred.
