Job: Inspector-Quality Control
Location: Fully Onsite – Southwire Fontana Warehouse, 11695 Pacific Ave, Fontana, CA 92337
Duration: 18+ Months
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 20–30 hours/week (Flexible within business hours)
Employment Type: Part-Time (Potential for Full-Time)
Pay rate : $16/hr - $23/hr. on w2 
 
Job Description:
 
Position Overview:

• Perform meticulous visual inspections of incoming Howard Industries distribution transformers at Southwire’s Fontana warehouse.
• Document cosmetic and functional defects to ensure compliance with quality standards for vendor-managed inventory (VMI).

 Education Requirement:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

 Key Responsibilities
Inspection & Documentation:
Conduct thorough visual inspections of 5 transformer types:

• Overhead (Pole Top)
• Single Phase Padmount
• 3-Phase Padmount (≤500kVA)
• 3-Phase Power Padmount (≥750kVA)
• BURD/Subway (Submersible)

 
Record defects in a tracking log using provided job aids.
 Common Defect Categories:

• Air Compartment Integrity
• Tank Damage (Dents, Scratches, Missing Paint)
• Oil Leaks (Weld/Gasket)
• Door Latching Issues
• Incorrect Labels/Nameplates
• Missing Subcomponents
• Warranty Sticker Accuracy (18 months for most units; 3 years for 750kVA+ transformers)

 Compliance & Reporting:

• Flag non-compliant units for further review.
• Collaborate with warehouse teams to segregate defective inventory.

 Qualifications Required:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Keen attention to detail for identifying subtle defects.
• Basic computer skills for logging inspections.

 Preferred:

• Experience in warehouse operations, quality control, or electrical equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical diagrams or job aids.
