Job Title: Lab Technologist I
Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15275
Duration: 6+ months (Possible Extension) contract

Schedule:

• One position: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
• One position: Tuesday – Saturday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Location: Clinical and research laboratory environment
 
Job Purpose:
Performs clinical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses to provide accurate data for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare specimens and organize tests for analysis.
• Prepare and properly label reagents required for laboratory testing.
• Conduct analysis of dried blood spots or body fluids to detect normal and abnormal components.
• Review test results, maintain legible work records, and enter findings into laboratory information systems.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Verify proper instrument function by checking and calibrating instruments; document maintenance and repairs.
• Follow laboratory safety policies, procedures, and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned; weekend or alternate shifts may be required.

Working Conditions:

• Clinical and research lab environment with exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
• Must wear lab coat, gloves, and completely closed footwear.
• May require work outside standard daylight hours depending on laboratory needs.

 
Physical Requirements:

• Regularly sit, use a keyboard, and type; occasional standing and movement within the lab.
• Manual dexterity required for handling lab instruments.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

 
Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a physical science (chemistry, biology, molecular biology, medical technology).
• 0–1 year clinical laboratory experience.
• Preferred: Mass Spectrometry (Mass Spec) and/or Immunology experience.
