Job Description:
- As a member of the healthcare team collaborates with the surgical team to provide care for patient ensuring that the goals of the patients are met, and the mission of the hospital is carried out.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Performs procedures in a variety of specialties requiring knowledge and skills.
- Demonstrates a higher level of collaboration with peers in making decisions related to surgical patient care.
Responsibility:
- Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are available and ready for the procedure.
- Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sponges, and other supplies to the surgeon and maintaining a sterile field throughout the procedure.
- Maintain sterile technique by ensuring that all instruments and materials remain sterile and that the surgical area is properly prepared.
- Help prepare patients for surgery by positioning them on the operating table, cleaning the surgical site, and ensuring proper draping.
- Monitor the surgical site and equipment for safety, and assist with documentation of procedures, instruments used, and patient status during surgery.
- Assist with the cleaning and sterilization of instruments after surgery and ensure proper disposal of contaminated materials to maintain a safe environment.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Two years of full-time equivalent experience as a Surgical Technologist.
- patient care
Education:
- High School/GED and one of the following:
- Completion of a Surgical Technologist Program.
- Completion of a Military Training Program as an Operating Room Specialist.
- Completion of a client sponsored Apprentice II Program.
- Ten or more years of experience as a Surgical Tech
Certifications & Licenses:
- BLS-(AHA)
- CST Licenses
