Material Handler I - 1St Shift

Job Summary:

• Responsible for picking, packing, stocking, receiving and shipping protein biology products safely, accurately and efficiently in a team-oriented warehouse environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Pick, pack and ship dangerous goods/hazmat, temperature sensitive and non-dangerous goods/hazmat products for domestic and international shipments.
• Receive and stock products accurately and efficiently.
• Understand and follow regulations for shipping dangerous goods/hazmat products by ground, sea and air.
• Accurately perform daily cycle count activities.
• Participate in safety gembas and initiatives.
• Work safely by following all PPE requirements and safe work practices.
• Apply 5S, Kanban and lean/continuous improvement principles.
• Follow Standard Work, SOP’s and apply best practices.
• Cross train to perform business critical warehouse functions.
• Learn and pass required Dangerous Goods/Hazmat Processing Training.
• Work in a team environment, and promote a positive, collaborative atmosphere.
• Participate in tier board discussions and activities.
• Operate PIT equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

• Requires a minimum of 0-2 years related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Use an RF Scanner/Unit.
• Safely handle dry ice and hazardous products.
• Introductory-to-intermediate problem-solving ability in a team-oriented environment.
• Basic computer skills to interact with Shipping Software and ERP programs.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

• Work in multiple temperature environments, for short periods of time, on a regular basis (-20C and 4C).
• Operate forklifts and aerial lifts.
• Walking/Standing 90% of the time.
• Move and lift up to 30 pounds on a regular basis and 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Ability to work some overtime, as needed.
