Job Title: Material Handler I - 1St Shift
Job Location: Rockford, IL
Job Duration: 12 Months (possibility of extension)
Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm
Payrate: $19.50/ hr on w2

Job Summary:
-
Responsible for picking, packing, stocking, receiving and shipping protein biology products safely, accurately and efficiently in a team-oriented warehouse environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Pick, pack and ship dangerous goods/hazmat, temperature sensitive and non-dangerous goods/hazmat products for domestic and international shipments.
- Receive and stock products accurately and efficiently.
- Understand and follow regulations for shipping dangerous goods/hazmat products by ground, sea and air.
- Accurately perform daily cycle count activities.
- Participate in safety gembas and initiatives.
- Work safely by following all PPE requirements and safe work practices.
- Apply 5S, Kanban and lean/continuous improvement principles.
- Follow Standard Work, SOP’s and apply best practices.
- Cross train to perform business critical warehouse functions.
- Learn and pass required Dangerous Goods/Hazmat Processing Training.
- Work in a team environment, and promote a positive, collaborative atmosphere.
- Participate in tier board discussions and activities.
- Operate PIT equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
-
Requires a minimum of 0-2 years related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Use an RF Scanner/Unit.
- Safely handle dry ice and hazardous products.
- Introductory-to-intermediate problem-solving ability in a team-oriented environment.
- Basic computer skills to interact with Shipping Software and ERP programs.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
- Work in multiple temperature environments, for short periods of time, on a regular basis (-20C and 4C).
- Operate forklifts and aerial lifts.
- Walking/Standing 90% of the time.
- Move and lift up to 30 pounds on a regular basis and 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Ability to work some overtime, as needed.
