Senior Firewall Policy Engineer


Hours of work/work schedule/location:
40hrs/week, and occasional off hour support when manager approved
8:00a.m.-5:00p.m., M-F
Candidate location can be remote from Corning, NY. If candidate is located in Corning area, they will work from Houghton Park

Travel Requirements:
Up to 15% domestic/international (Asia, Europe, and Mexico expcted)
Agency must confirm that candidate is willing and able to travel and must be set up to assist candidate financially in booking applicable international travel

We're looking for an analytical thinker passionate about creating and deploying effective firewall security policies to join our team.

Role/responsibilities:
Create entire firewall policy sets based on syslog traffic data and provided site specific information
Build granular firewall policies including layer 7 inspection and/or multi-factor authentication.
Enforce an entire firewall policy set in a live production environment without creating material impact.
Be accountable for executing tasks according to established standards, procedures, and processes.
Able to communicate and work with customers and peers in different time zones and countries
Be responsible for awareness and compliance to policy and guidelines.

Technical Knowledge:
Expertise in firewall management, firewall policy writing, and firewall network architectures for Palo Alto, Check Point, or Juniper.
Experience with authentication technologies such multi-factor authentication (MFA) and Network Authentication Control

Required Experience:
3-5 years hands-on experience as a firewall subject matter expert including creation and management of complex firewall policies
Experience in a large, multi-site firewall deployments
Experience writing advanced firewall policies including layer 7 application awareness and user authentication

Desired Experience:
Hands-on experience with creating and implementing firewall policy in a manufacturing environment
Juniper JunOS and/or Juniper SPACE experience
Experience with industrial control system protocols such as OSI PI, OPC, Modbus TCP, MSMQ

Excellent communication skills to articulate the risks associated with policy decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Self-motivated problem solver who strives to meet the objectives of the function and the project
Capable of working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative team environment
Excellent team player who takes initiative and ownership of assigned items to see them through completion
Be a quick learner and adapt to the changing security landscape

Desired Certifications:
Industry certification such as GIAC, CISSP


Desired Education:
Bachelor's in related field would be nice, but is not required if the necessary experience is present
