Job Description

Reliability Characterization / Test Engineer:
The Reliability Subsystem Characterization Engineer is responsible for the design characterization of a specified subsystem and their influence on specified system interfaces. Focused on specified subsystems and their Reliability, the RSCE develops expertise on the different elements of the detailed design, provides insight into potential failure modes that may emerge from a proposed design, and performs subsystem design characterization to understand and mitigate these potential failure modes to produce a Reliable subsystem:

Description / Role:
Works closely with subsystem teams (led by SSTLs)
Coordinates with system integration team and design developers to ensure full understanding of the subsystem s functionality and performance is developed
Creates complete, quality K-Briefs with content specific to the design characterization of a subsystem
Provides expertise on Design of Experiments, Design for Six Sigma, Taguchi Robust Optimization, P-Diagrams
Ensures that the design output of a subsystem meets the expectations of Reliability
Designs and develops subsystem characterization studies
Designs and develops subsystem test fixtures
Performs Root Cause Analysis on issues found during subsystem design characterization and bring issues to the SSTL for resolution

Skills needed:
Strong engineering technical expertise in specified work area (ex. Thermal, mechatronics, electrical, etc.)
Expertise in DFSS, P-Diagrams, Design of Experiments
Proficient with LabView (creating or executing applications)
Understanding of Client Set Based Design / PLM process
Ability to understand and work within the SCRUM process
Effective Time Management
Effective Communication Skills
Ability to dive deeper if needed on specific issues related to the detailed design
Ability to differentiate between Urgent and Important issues from day-to-day issues
Be easily approachable
Open-minded and the ability to communicate in a professional manner

** 2-5 years experience and minimum of BS in Electrical Engineering or BS in Mechanical Engineering with Electrical Experience, this is NOT an entry level position. Experienced Engineers Only.
