Phlebotomist II
Job Title: Phlebotomist II
Location: Cypress, TX
Duration: 2+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM CST, Monday–Friday (30-min lunch)
Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist II (Patient Services Representative II) serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional patient care and accurate specimen collection. This role involves drawing high-quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and ensuring compliance with established protocols. The Phlebotomist II fosters trust and confidence by explaining procedures clearly and performing collections skillfully and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection for forensic and clinical testing.
- Verify patient identity and confirm demographic details; ensure accurate labeling of specimens in patient presence.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment while adhering to infection control standards.
- Prepare specimens for transport and ensure compliance with lab protocols.
- Accurately document patient information and maintain required records.
- Provide clear instructions and compassionate care to patients during and after procedures.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and uphold confidentiality standards.
- Support multiple locations as needed, including Patient Service Centers and in-office settings.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to deliver error-free work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Flexible to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required.
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (clean driving record if applicable).
- Superior customer service and communication skills; ability to adapt to change.
Education & Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required).
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in CA, NV, WA).
Experience:
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- Customer service experience in retail or healthcare highly desirable.
- Proficiency in keyboard/data entry.
